Top 5 Wednesday

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme created by Lainey from Gingerreadslainey & is now moderated by Sam from Thoughts On Tomes. Each week there’s a different bookish related topic (this varies & isn’t always strictly books) & you get to list your top 5 books or bookish answers related to the topic. This week’s topic is Authors You Are Waiting on Another Book FromThese are your favorite authors who you want to write another book but haven’t yet. Or they are writing something, but no title or synopsis has been released and it isn’t coming out until 2018. Try to keep this to authors who haven’t announced anything concrete about a new book, not authors that have a highly anticipated release coming out before the end of 2016.

The entire day I walked around with only 4 until I got home & walked past my shelves….yea sometimes all you need is walk past some shelves to jog that memory 😉 These topics lately have been requiring a bit more thought & I LOVE it!

1. Pierce Brown- Morning Star, the conclusion to the Red Rising trilogy was an absolute roller coaster of a ride & I did NOT want to get off! I am a Howler for life & need more of this beautiful man’s work…I follow him on Twitter & Instagram just for the little crumbs he throws our way. A spin off is definitely in the works but there has been no mention of a publication date, he is in the writing stages from what I can gather…sigh…can’t rush greatness 😉

2. Erin MorgensternThe Night Circus, One of my favorite books for the beautiful lush world it introduced me to. I had never read nor listened to anything so magical & haunting until I came across this woman’s work & as I mentioned to another blogger earlier today, this author shrouded in a bit of mystery just like her book SooO if anyone knows ANYTHING about Ms. Morgenstern & the possibility of a new book please share *crosses fingers, does a little chant*

3. Benjamin Alire SaenzAristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, I read this book & instantly fell in love with this man’s poetic style of writing. From what I’ve gathered, it’s hard to get a book out of this guy lol, but every once in a while he drops a gem. Goodreads has been updated with a cover-less photo of There Will be Other Summers (Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe #2) but no publication date, this saddens me 😦

4. Kathryn StockettThe Help, What ever happened to Ms. Stockett? I am not one to read much Historical Fiction but The Help pulled me in from page 1! This book did an amazing job in covering race & politics in the 60’s. The characters have stuck with me both after reading the book & watching them come life on the screen.

5. George R.R. MartinA Song Of Ice & Fire- I don’t think this needs an explanation because I’m pretty sure I’m one of MANNNNY holding our breaths for the next book in the series…MY MAN PLEASE DON’T MAKE US WAIT ANY LONGER!

  1. 1) I have not read Red Rising, but can we talk about the elephant in the room… Pierce Brown is ridiculously good looking right? This isn’t just one of pictures that make you look more attractive than you really are?
    2) Ugh I needed to read The Night Circus like yesterday!
    3) I am super intimidated by the GOT series… I have the first book, but am too scared to start.

    1. Lol he is my definition of man GORGEOUS! 😂 & no, it’s not just this one photo. I don’t think this man is capable of looking bad any day haha! The Night Circus is enchanting & if you love the GOT tv series then you would absolutely be obsessed with the books the man who gave us Kit Harrington, has written 🙌🏼😍🙌🏼😍

  2. Pierce Brown. 😘😍 I love him. He’s such a hottie and I loved Red Rising. I still need to read the rest of the books in the series. I always used to read series in order, but lately I’ve been reading the first book and moving on to another series. I don’t know what my deal is. I plan to finish up the series in the next two months. I have to know what happens. The whole reason I never read more than the first GoT book is because GRRM hasn’t finished the series. Knowing it’s not complete after all these years is a bit of a turnoff. I figured I’ll wait until its complete to read through.

    1. Oh I’ve been doing this same exact thing! Lol I really should finish a series especially when I own all of the books in that series but distractions lol. Being a mood reader also plays into this habit. & although my hubby & I read GoT together, we weren’t aware at the time, more books would follow. I’m pretty sure this would also have been a turn off for us. As it is now, he’ll only read either completed or nearly completed series by authors known to publish every year lol.

  3. It’s so strange for me to see the faces behind the books – I rarely check out photos of the authors, so I’m always surprised to see how they look, and some times I’m actually surprised by their gender, names can be confusing for me, and I don’t really care so much. Buy recently I’m checking out if the author’s gender to check out how many books I read are written by female authors (I read some article about a lady that decided to read only female authors, because overwhelming amount of her reads were written by man, and I want to check out how it looks for me).

  4. Great choices! I defineitely agree with you on Erin Morgenstern and Kathryn Stockett. They would have definitely been on my t5w, but I was on a family vacation and I didn’t have a chance to post this week. If I ever get around to reading GoT, I’m thinking George R R Martin would probably be on my list too. I know…I know…what am I waiting for?!?! I need to read them! *hangs head in shame* lol So many books, so little time! 🙂

      1. So true! I was in a major book hangover after I finished Morning Star. I was just like “What am I supposed to do with my life now?” and my feels were broken … so that wasn’t easy either hahaha

  5. Oh these are all great choices, and I am definitely waiting for another book by Erin Morgenstern as well. Her Night Circus book is one of my all-time favourites so I’d love to see what she comes out with next, and the same goes for Pierce Brown as well. Red Rising was beyond amazing so whatever he writes next will go on my auto-buy list! 😀
